צמד הציוויים 'ואהבת' בברית החדשה ובסרך היחד
This study focuses on the discussion of the issue of the Torah's greatest commandment/ principle as reported in the Synoptic Gospels. Midrashic features of the Synoptic tradition, such as combining two 'love commandments', from Lev 19:18 and Deut 6:5, and a peculiar interpretation given there to Deut 6:5, are outlined. It is suggested that these peculiarities may be better understood in light of the opening paragraphs of the Qumranic Rule of the Congregation, the exegetical character of which is highlighted in the paper. Although the treatment of the 'double love precept' in the Gospels differs from that of the Rule of the Congregation in details of interpretation, setting, and the religious outlook it is intended to support, the two traditions seem to share a basic exegetical structure and may have derived from a common source.
