This article explores an Egyptian provenance for Judith suggesting that the book took shape within a military setting. It suggests that influences on the work came from various cultural transplantations that occurred in Ptolemaic Egypt, including: Macedonian female warrior tales, Carian traditions, and fictional works from Heliopolis.
