דף חדש מתוך ספר בן-סירא העברי
The writer found in the summer of 1956 in the Cambridge University library a new collection of MSS originating in the Cairo Geniza. This collection which numbers tens of thousands of leaves was not, till recently, mentioned in the handlist of the library. Evidently it was not transferred to the MSS. Department till 1955 or 1956. In order to distinguish it from other collections of MSS from the Geniza, the library management decided to designate it by the title "New Series". MS no. 1 which is contained in Box 38a of this series comprises a leaf of the Hebrew Ecclesiasticus (Ben Sira) in the copy termed by scholars MS. B. Other pages were discovered in 1896 and 1899 by Schechter, Neubauer-Cowley, G. Margoliouth. In the new leaf chapters xv and xvi:1—9 of the book are copied out, which were hitherto only extant in the A manuscript. There are a number of interesting variations in the new text and some additions to the B version. They are listed in annotations to the edition of the text which is here accompanied by facsimiles of the manuscript.
