Abstract

Our contribution is concerned with the metaphorical use of garment vocabulary in the book of Ben Sira. We will show how different elements of clothing are treated in relation to realities of a spiritual character (1:11, 18; 6:29–31; 25:6; 27:8), to social behaviour (35[32]:2; 42:13) and to the reality of death (14:17).
