Abstract

Recent research on the household as an important link between early and later Second Temple sources, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, opens up a fruitful avenue for further
|work. It provides additional grist to the mill that is pointing towards the growing importance of the Scrolls for the wider picture of Second Temple Judaism. I hope to show in this paper that the multifaceted evidence of the Laws of the Damascus Document dealing with the arrangement of marriages takes us to the nub of some of these extremely important developments.
