This book is a scholarly anthology of articles on the Hebrew Bible whose purpose is to introduce the study of the Bible to intelligent readers. The volume includes twenty-Two chapters written by the leading scholars in the field. The book is divided into three parts, offering an overview of the history of biblical research, the differant geners of biblical literature, and the ancient Near Eastern background of biblical literature. The articles deal with the diverse facets of the issues involved while acquaniting the reader with the texts themselves.
